HEIC CONVERTER FAQ

HEIC conversion questions

1Is HEIC conversion free, and are photos uploaded?

Yes, it is free without an account or usage-count limit. Conversion files are downloaded from the site, but your photo and result are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

2Does this convert every iPhone HEIC photo?

It supports compatible HEIC and HEIF still images. Encoding variants, damaged files, unusual color formats or limited device memory can prevent conversion. Live Photo videos and animation are not supported. Premultiplied alpha, a special transparency format, is not supported.

3How do I preserve a transparent background?

PNG retains the decoded image’s transparency. JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas use your chosen background color, white by default. The checkerboard is only a preview aid and is not saved.

4Are HDR, color profiles and camera metadata preserved?

No preservation is guaranteed. Results are 8-bit JPG or PNG; original HDR, ICC profiles and EXIF metadata may not be retained. Colors can differ from your photo app, so keep the original for archival use.

5What about multi-image or large HEIC files?

Only the primary image is converted, not the complete collection. Limits are 20 MB, 20 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per edge. If memory is insufficient, try a smaller photo or close other applications.
