Choosing a text tool

1How are text counts and differences measured?

Character, word and sentence counts prefer the browser’s language-aware segmentation, so figures can differ from other services. Text comparison shows line differences; it does not analyze meaning or judge plagiarism.

2How do deduplication and replacement change the original?

Duplicate-line removal uses your comparison options and keeps the first original line and its order. Find and replace uses literal text or JavaScript regular expressions. Check the options and result, and keep a separate original.

3Can I extract text from web addresses or images?

HTML to text extracts words from pasted HTML while excluding script and style contents, among others. It does not visit web addresses or recognize text in images or PDFs.
